Ingredients In This Recipe

Canned peaches - We used sliced peaches in juice, but you could use peaches in light syrup or heavy syrup if you like a sweeter dessert.
You will only need half the juice from the canned peaches, so drain and reserve the juice before placing the peach slices in the baking dish.
Cornstarch - Adding a little cornstarch to the peach juice will help make a thicker and velvety smooth sauce.
Brown sugar - Light brown sugar has molasses contains, which will add depth and flavor to the dessert.
Cake mix - We used a boxed yellow cake mix with a butter flavor, this yellow cake mix is dense than other cake mixes, which is an ideal topping for cobblers.
Cinnamon powder - this is optional. Cinnamon adds a little warmth and fragrance to the dessert.
Butter - We used salted butter for this dessert, but you could also use unsalted butter.
Equipment
You will need a round 9-inch (23 cm) diameter and 2.5-inch (6 cm) deep pie dish.
If using a different-shaped dish, test the size by pouring the drained peaches in. The fruit should nearly fill the dish, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space between the fruit and the top of the dish.
Step By Step Instructions
Start by draining the canned peaches and arranging them evenly in the dish.
Next, create a smooth mixture by combining cornstarch with a portion of the reserved peach juice in a small bowl.
Then, add the remaining measured juice and brown sugar to this mixture before pouring it over the arranged peaches.
Sprinkle the dry cake mix uniformly over the peaches, ensuring it covers the surface, and drizzle melted butter over the cake mix.
For added flavor, you could sprinkle ground cinnamon on top.
Bake the prepared cobbler in a preheated oven for approximately 35-40 minutes, or until the top develops a golden brown color and the filling bubbles at the edges.
When done, allow the cobbler to cool briefly before serving.
Recipe Tips
Adjust sweetness
Taste the canned peaches before adding the brown sugar, and depending on their sweetness, you may need to adjust the amount of brown sugar you add to the cobbler.
Prepare the Peaches
Drain the canned peaches well before using them because you do not want to use all the juice from the can because it will make it too watery.
Even distribution
Mix the cornstarch and brown sugar with the reserved juice before adding the peaches.
Spread the canned peaches evenly in the dish this will ensure that each serving gets a good amount of fruit.
Cake mix distribution
When sprinkling the cake mix over the peaches, use a spoon to distribute it as evenly as possible. This helps the cake mix bake evenly and create a better crust.
Evenly distribute the butter
We melted the butter and spooned it over the cake mix before baking to avoid dry patches.
If you do not want to melt the butter, cut it into tiny pieces and space it evenly over the top of the cake mix, this way it should melt and evenly spread over the top.
Check for doneness
The cobbler is ready when the topping turns golden brown, and the filling is bubbly around the edges.
Also because this is a dump cake, you must bake the cobbler until it is hot and bubbly otherwise, the cornstarch will not have a chance to thicken the sauce.
Resting Time
Allow the cobbler to cool for a bit before serving. This helps the filling set and makes it easier to dish out.

A cobbler dessert is a delicious treat made by baking fruit in a deep dish and covering it with a batter, biscuit, or dumpling topping.
Unlike other desserts, cobblers don't have a bottom crust.
No, you do not need to peel peaches when making a cobbler.
When baked, the peach skins soften, but if you prefer them without skin, go ahead and peel them before using.
It depends on the weather. If it is cool, leaving peach cobbler out overnight might be okay, but not longer than that.
But if it is hot or humid, it is better to keep it in the fridge. I prefer to store mine in the fridge regardless of the weather.
Yes, you can reheat peach cobbler in the microwave or oven. For the oven, let it come to room temperature first. Then, at 180°C (350 °F), reheat it for around 20 minutes until it's warm inside.
Cover the top loosely with aluminum foil before heating to prevent the crust from burning.
To reheat peach cobbler in the microwave, place the desired portion on a microwave-safe plate, cover it, and heat it on medium power for 1-2 minutes.
Check to see if it is warm enough and continue heating in short intervals if needed.
Be cautious when handling it as it can be hot, and allow it to cool a bit before enjoying.
You can tell a cobbler is done when its top crust turns a golden brown color, and you notice the filling bubbling at the edges.
You can enjoy peach cobbler either hot or cold - it is delicious both ways!
