1packet(40 grams/1.4 ounces) onion soup mix powderadd to taste
2tablespoonsmayonnaise
12slicesof cheddar cheese
Salt and pepperoptional
12pack of dinner rolls
Glaze
1tablespoonmelted butter
½teaspoonsesame seeds
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease or line the base of a rimmed baking sheet with baking paper.
Heat the oil in a nonstick frying pan over medium heat, add the onions and fry for 2-3 minutes to soften.
Add the ground beef, and cook for a few minutes as you break it into smaller pieces with a spatula. Then mix in the onion soup mix and keep breaking the meat into pieces.
Cook on medium/high heat until the meat is cooked (about 8 minutes) and most of the liquid in the pan has evaporated. Remove from the heat, drain and discard any excess fat and juices.
Stir in the mayonnaise and taste for seasoning, and adjust if necessary with salt and pepper.
Cut the buns in half. Place the bottom half of the rolls onto the prepared tray, and arrange a layer of cheese over the top.
Top the cheese with the ground beef and spread it into an even layer.
Cover the meat with another layer of sliced cheese.
Place the tops of the buns, with the cut side down over the buns on the tray.
Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the tops are golden. Slice or pull apart the rolls before serving, hot or warm.
