Equipment

  • 240 -250 ml measuring cup
  • Saucepan with a tight-fitting lid or rice cooker
  • sieve
  • Fork

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 3 cups water

Instructions
 

Note: Use the same cup to measure the rice and water, each time filling the cup to the very top.

  • Measure the rice into a large saucepan and rinse the rice several times in clean cold tap water until the water becomes clear. On the final rinse tip, the rice into a colander to completely drain away all the water. Return the rice back to the saucepan.
  • Add the water to the rice in the saucepan. Place the pot on a high heat and bring the pot to the boil. Cover with a lid and reduce the heat to low.
  • Cook covered on low heat for 20 minutes – don’t remove the lid while it is cooking.
  • Remove from the heat.
  • Allow the rice to stand covered for 10 minutes. Then use a fork to fluff up the rice and serve hot.
