- 250 grams (8.8 ounces) prunes, seeds removed
- ¾ cup fresh orange juice
- ½ cup water
- 3 x strips of orange rind about 10 cm long
- 1 piece (5cm / 2inches) of cinnamon stick
- 4 cloves
- 2 cardamom pods
- 1-2 teaspoons white sugar - optional
Place all the ingredients into a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer covered for about 10 minutes.
Remove from the heat and cool.
Serve the stewed prunes warm or cold with yogurt, cream, custard, or ice cream. Also good for breakfast cereals.
