    How to Peel A Tomato

    If you don't know how to peel a tomato, this article will show you how. You don't need to peel tomatoes for everything you make, but sometimes a recipe will ask for it. The reason for this is that it gives sauces a smoother texture.

    🍽 Equipment

    • Paring knife
    • Small saucepan
    • Slotted spoon
    • Ice bath - A bowl or large jug filled with ice and water

    🍳 Instructions

    Step 1 - Wash the tomato and remove any stickers.

    Step 2 -Use a small sharp knife to remove the core.

    Step 3 - Turn the tomato over and cut an X on the bottom of the tomato.

    Step 4 -Fill a large container or jug with water and ice and put it aside.

    Step 5 -Fill a saucepan with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Use a spoon and carefully place the 2 or 3 tomatoes into the boiling water. Let them sit there for about 30 seconds, or until you start to see the skin peel away at the cut sections.

    Step 6 -Use a slotted spoon to remove the tomatoes from the boiling water and immediately place them into the icy water. Let them sit in the cold water for about 5 minutes.

    Step 7 - Remove the tomatoes and use your hands to peel the skin from the tomatoes. There may be some hard-to-remove pieces of tomato skin - peel these away with a small sharp knife.

    After peeling them, you can remove the tomato seeds.
