FAQ

How long to cook thin pork chops in the oven?

To cook thin pork chops in the oven, it usually takes about 15-20 minutes at a temperature of 400°F (200°C).

Remember to check them to see if they are fully cooked and not pink in the middle before enjoying them!

How to cook thin pork chops without drying them out?

Firstly, use bone-in pork chops that have some fat marbling, the bone preserves moisture and the fat gives added flavor during cooking.

To enhance taste, use a simple marinade, made with either vinegar or lemon juice, oil, salt, and your preferred herbs or spices, and allow the chops to marinate in the fridge for 3 to 12 hours.

Before cooking, bring the marinated chops to room temperature for about 30 minutes and gently pat them dry to remove excess moisture.

Start the cooking process by searing the chops on the stovetop to create a sealing crust, then transfer to the oven for thorough cooking without moisture loss.

Before placing them in the oven add a little chicken stock or butter before, this will help to keep them moist.

You could use a meat thermometer to monitor the cooking progress, aiming for an internal temperature of 140-145°F (60-63°C), or check to see that it is not pink inside.

Allow the pork chop to rest for a few minutes before serving.

How to cook thin pork chops on the stove?

To cook pork chops on the stove, follow these steps:

Prepare the chops -  Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels and season them with salt, pepper, and any desired spices.

Heat the pan - Place a skillet or frying pan on the stove over medium-high heat.

Add a small amount of cooking oil (like vegetable or olive oil) and allow it to heat up.

Sear the chops - Once the oil is hot, carefully place the pork chops in the pan.

Let them pan fry without moving them for about 3-4 minutes until they develop a golden brown crust.

Flip and cook - Use tongs to flip the chops to the other side. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.

If the chops are quite thick, you might need a little longer.

Check for doneness - Use a meat thermometer to make sure the pork chops are fully cooked.

To check the temperature, insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the chop.

The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C) for safe consumption.

If you do not have a meat thermometer, use a shape knife and cut into the thickest part to ensure it is not pink inside.

Resting time - Once the chops are cooked, remove them from the pan and place them on a plate.

Let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute and the meat to stay juicy which will give you tender pork chops.

Do you have to flip thin pork chops in the oven?

There is no need to flip pork chops when baking in the oven because they will cook evenly through.
